Thank you for visiting my resume/portfolio site! I am a technology professional with many skills to offer. My work history has primarly included positions as a full-stack PHP web developer, which includes front-end and back-end programming, database, web graphics and design. I also have skills in photography, audio/video editing, social media, work as a business analyst and I am a technical instructor. I currently teach part time at Johnson County Community College (JCCC) and work at Fike Corporation as a Business Systems Analyst (programmer/analyst/developer position). My first year at Fike was doing Oracle CPQ, and thereafter I was offered an opportunity to do full web stack development.

I would describe myself as technical, passionate and gracious. I always strive to give others the benefit of the doubt and practice a longsuffering attitude. Many tell me I am easy to work with and I feel that I am usually well liked. With respect to work, one of my friends has described me as a technical Swiss Army Knife. I think this is an interesting and adequate description. I am a bit of a tech-multi-tool and enjoy a diversity of technologies. I describe myself as a, "Jack of all trades, master of some." This is often what is referred to as a polymath (see definition). As an analytical-creative, with a unique perspective on the world, I am fortunate to have numerous skills to offer and I love being able to contribute. I am passionate about the web and passionate about people.
polymath (Greek: πολυμαθής, polymathēs, "having learned much") is a person whose expertise spans a significant number of different subject areas; such a person is known to draw on complex bodies of knowledge to solve specific problems.
Over the years, I have demonstrated one thing consistently, the ability to teach myself new concepts. Thus, by definition, I am also an autodidact (see definition). I enjoy the challenge and adventure of learning and believe I can learn anything if given adequate context and a chance to layer the knowledge.
autodidact (Greek: αυτοδίδακτος, autodidaktos self-taught, from aut- + didaktos taught, from didaskein to teach) is a person who is self-taught or having the ability to teach themselves.
I will have been married to the love of my life, Barbara, for 22 years as of June 2018. I definitely married up! Barb and I had many friends in common, but had never met until our 20s. I went to Olathe North High School and she went to the rival school, Olathe South. We met at her father's book store and were friends for two years before we began dating. Months thereafter, much to our parents dismay, we eloped! We are very blessed to have three children; Daniel, Nathan and Ashlyn, who never cease to amaze! Ashlyn is a young artist, she and her brother Nathan are quite the PC gamers. Their older brother, Daniel, is out on his own.
Many of my primary interest and passions are closely related to my work. I enjoy teaching, technology, programming and media (graphics, photography, audio and video). But you also may find me tinkering with my Rasberry PI or Intel NUC web server, playing guitar, writing and hiking (see my visual hiking log and nature photos), when I get the chance. I am a huge Chiefs fan, as well as a fan and collector of IRONMAN things. So you can find me on Twitter as @KCIRONFAN which is of course a slight merger of the two interest. I really enjoy playing chess with my son Nathan and looking at my daughter's art work (when she will let me see it). I am also involved in various studies related to the scholar, Dr. Francis Schaeffer, so I am regularly reading both his works and researching various historical materials. These studies prompted the founding of the research service called Francis Schaeffer Studies.
My Visual Hiking Log:
I can site numerous instances from my work history where I have been able to succeed by learning a diverse set of technical skills. In technical school, I took classes, but within a year I was asked to teach. When I worked in banking, I cross-trained and learned every check item processing position. As a web programmer, I wanted to know how it all worked, from front-end to back-end. Later as an analyst, I loved the diversity of working across multiple teams and with many types of specialist. If you are looking for a generalist, I am most definitely your man. If you are looking for a particular specialist who will be mindful of the big picture do not rule me out. I am adaptive and a hungry learner.
I'm a Diverse Technologist, with Experience as an Analyst, Programmer, Designer & Technical Instructor.
I started my career in banking and was noticed for my skills with Excel and was eventually asked to teach "Excel for Banking." Thereafter, I was hired as a technical instructor at the school I was attending. During my time as a technical instructor, I was exposed to numerous technologies. I had been interested in the web as a hobby since the late 90s and took the opportunity to pick up various web development languages as well as web design and other skills directly from other instructors. For the next 10 years or so, I worked as a Full-Stack PHP Developer, with a short stint as a VBA Application Developer (MS Excel Macro Development). For two years thereafter, I worked as a Business Systems Analyst. In the summer of 2016, I accepted a teaching role as a part time technical instructor at Johnson County Community College. Here, I have an opportunity to both share my skills and further enhance them. In the fall of 2016, I worked a contract with Advisors Excel as a full stack web developer. My most recent work has been through contracting positions (teaching and PHP developer). In August of 2017, I accepted a role with Fike Corporation as a Business Systems Analyst working and programming in Oracle CPQ/BigMachines. Finally, in August of 2018, I am working on web development projects where I am building fascinating product calculators for Fike as Business Systems Analyst Developer (KnockoutJS, jQuery, PHP). I love what I am doing and am enjoying the challenge.
I maintain memberships with the following organizations:
Professional Web and Programming Groups You Might Find Me At!
(Unfortunately, due to time, I cannot always attend the meetings for all of these)
Personal & Ministry Related
Member, Teacher, Redeemer Presbyterian Church, Overland Park Kansas redeemer-pca.org
Treasurer, International Society of Christian Apologetics isca-apologetics.org
Founder/Developer of Francis Schaeffer Studies francisschaefferstudies.org
Web Administrator of L'Abri Fellowship (Ministry founded by Francis and Edith Schaeffer) labri.org
Thank you for visiting danguinn.com. This site is regularly being updated with various materials to show my diverse background and experience. I am currently happily employed at Fike Corporation and Johnson County Community College. The following are positions that generally describe my skillset:
Business Systems Analyst
Media Expert (graphics, photography, video)
The ideal position would be with an organization that appreciates a multifacited technologist as opposed to a narrow specialist.
Please contact me if you feel I would be a good fit for your organization (see my resume for contact information).
Non-Technical Ministry Training
My passion for technology has at times crossed over into ministry related areas and allowed me to offer my services to non-profits such as Stonecroft Ministries and the International Society of Christian Apologetics. Likewise, I founded the scholarly research service Francis Schaeffer Studies in 2011 and currently interact with various Schaeffer-related ministries. This has led me to also pursue the ministry related credentials, which are listed below.
Certificate of Apologetics, Biola University
Pursuing - Masters of Arts in Theological Studies at Covenant Theological Seminary (distance education)
I really have a deep love for teaching. There is something about watching the "lights come on" in people's minds. Their faces light up, they get excited about what they are learning and you can feel the electricity when they engage. I got my start as an instructor while working in banking. After being noticed for my skills with Excel, I was asked to teach. Some time later, I was asked to become a technical instructor at the school I was attending. While I was there, I learned to program and began my career in web development. I believe teaching and instruction are an important necessity in one's technical career, especially if you do any work as an analyst. Today, I teach part-time as a technical instuctor at Johnson County Community College where I try to pass on my years of knowledge to hungry minds.
Training is an essential part of work. People need patient and engaging mentors. This is what I bring to the table.
